Sweet Rides & Sweet Pies is a fun-filled family event on the last Saturday of July for people of all ages. It is FREE to attend and only $5.00 to register a vehicle for the show! We sell delicious homemade pie with ice cream; have registered more than 200 vehicles at past shows for an outstanding event; have face painting for the kids; a fire truck for kids to explore, and a 'go-kart' for them to win (like one you see on the right from our 2024 event); raffle prizes for adults; vendors; and we give away more than 70 trophies and a coveted People's Choice Award! Plans are underway for our 2025 Sweet Rides & Sweet Pies!
Registration is only $5.00 per vehicle.
You can pre-register your vehicle online starting May 17th for a chance at $50 and avoid the line.
Registration can also be done in person on the day of the event.
Details of our 10th Annual Sweet Rides will be published in the Spring of 2025.
Pie is served until we sell out! Raffle prizes for registrants and the general public will be awarded.
Trophy awards are given starting at 2:30 to vehicles that are registered for the event.
The Westby Area Historical Society began in 1989. A committee met and agreed to start WAHS to preserve and share the history of our area. A dedicated group of people worked for several years before they were able to purchase what is now the Thoreson House Museum.
To financially support the mission of the organization and to be able to pay the expenses of the museum, WAHS held many fundraisers. One of the first that continued for many years was an old-fashioned pie and ice cream social.
By 2016, the pie and ice cream social had lost steam. It was WAHS board member and committed volunteer Madeline Anderson's idea to combine a car show with the pie and ice cream social.
In 2016, the first SRSP event drew 15 cars. Over the past 9 years, the event has grown to become our biggest fundraiser with almost 200 registered cars and hundreds more people coming to Westby. The event includes more than 60 awards, vendors, face painting, a special kids' raffle, a 50/50 raffle, and, of course, lots of pie with ice cream!
